Your data in your own hands
Why we deliberately choose manual entry, and what that means for your privacy.
Monetoir is built on the conviction that your financial data belongs to you, and to no one else. We deliberately use no PSD2 connections or automatic bank integrations.
A bank connection offers convenience, but at a price: privacy and awareness. Entering your data by hand makes you genuinely look at your numbers. That moment of friction builds a firmer grip on your spending patterns. And with Monetoir, you never have to share your banking credentials with a third party.
Your data is stored on servers in the Netherlands (DigitalOcean Amsterdam). We sell no data, show no advertising and have no view into your personal financial situation.
The downside is that you keep Monetoir up to date yourself. We recommend entering your current balance once every two weeks. It takes about three minutes, and in return gives you a degree of privacy and clarity that automatic tools cannot reach. You can download a copy of all your data as a JSON file at any time.
